Bei Freunden analoger Sequenzer dürfte der MAQ16/3 auf Interesse stoßen. Es handelt sich um ein Eingabegerät in der Art eines Analogsequenzers mit 3 Reihen zu je 16 Drehreglern, der seine Daten sowohl als analoge Steuerspannungen (CV/Gate) als auch in Form von MIDI-Befehlen ausgibt. Als Klangerzeuger für die Sequenzen können analoge Synthesizer (z.B. A-100 Modulsystem) und/oder MIDI-Klangerzeuger dienen. Da für jede der Reihen Parameter getrennt einstellbar sind (erste/letzte Stufe, Betriebsart, MIDI-Event usw.) können sehr komplexe Sequenzmuster erzeugt und in Echtzeit verändert werden. Auch die Transponierung einer Ton-Sequenz über eingehende Note-On-Befehle ist vorgesehen. Den Reihen können jedoch nicht nur Noten-Befehle, sondern auch andere gängige MIDI-Befehle (Velocity, Controller, Pitch-Bend, After-Touch, etc.) oder die Zeitdauer für eine Stufe zugeordnet werden. Die Synchronisation des MAQ über MIDI-Clock/Start/Stop ist sowohl empfangsseitig (MIDI-In), wie auch senderseitig (MIDI-Out) möglich. 30 Sequenzen können im Gerät gespeichert, abgerufen und voll editiert werden.

Fans of vintage analog sequencers will be glad of the MAQ16/3. It combines the creative potential of an analog sequencer with the advantages of MIDI. MAQ16/3 outputs the sequencing data both as control voltages (CV) and as MIDI events. MIDI Out of the MAQ may be connected to MIDI In of any sound generating MIDI device (Expander, Sampler, Synthesizer) or to a sequencer recording the MAQ data. Additionally 3 Control Voltage and Gate outputs are available for controlling vintage synthesizer equipment (e.g. the A-100 Analog Modular System). The main feature of the MAQ is the real time access to the sequence via 48 rotary potentiometers grouped in 3 rows of 16 dials each. All important parameters like first/last step, MIDI event type, MIDI channel, forward/backward/random/pendulum mode, gate time, tempo and so on are independently assigned to each row and can be changed in real time while the sequence is running. This enables very complex sequences. The rows may not only be used for generating note events but also other important MIDI events or for controlling the length of time for each step. Of course the MAQ allows the synchronisation via MIDI Clock, Start and Stop either as master or as slave.

Der MAQ16/3 wird seit über 20 Jahren produziert. Mittlerweile gibt es große Beschaffungsprobleme bei einigen Bauteilen, so dass wir uns dazu entschlossen haben die Produktion einzustellen. The MAQ16/3 is manufactured since more than 20 years. In the meantime we have massive procurement problems for some of the electronic parts. That's why the MAQ16/3 is discontinued.

Ältere MAQ16/3 (V1.xx und V2.xx) können auf die aktuelle Version 3.xx aufgerüstet werden. Details zur Umrüstung und die Unterschiede zu den älteren Version finden Sie unter MAQ16/3 Update und im Anhang der MAQ16/3-Bedienungsanleitung. Die aktuelle Firmware-Version ist 3.72 (Stand Sommer 2012). Older versions of MAQ16/3 (V1.xx and V2.xx) can be updated to the current version 3.xx. Details concerning the update and differences between the old and new version are available in the document MAQ16/3 Update and in the appendix of the MAQ16/3 user's manual. The latest firmware version is 3.72 (as of summer 2012).
Für Geräte mit S-Trigger (z.B. Moog) oder die Korg-Synthesizer MS-10/MS-20 wird ein spezielles S-Trigger-Kabel für die Verbindung zwischen dem Gate-Ausgang des MAQ16/3 und dem Gate/S-Trigger-Eingang des angesteuerten Gerätes benötigt, näheres hierzu auf unserer FAQ-Seite.
