My Dark Energy generates a permanent tone (English)
The Dark Energy is equipped with an initial gain control for the VCA. It's the VCA control labelled "Amp.". This control can be used to open the VCA without using the Envelope (ADSR) or LFO. If your Dark Energy generates a permanent tone this control is probably not set to zero. For details please refer to the Dark Energy user's manual on page 16. If you have problems with the Dark Energy controls we recommend to start with the basic settings described on page 6 and continue as the manual says.

Der Dark Energy ist mit einem Regler ausgestattet, der es erlaubt den VCA zu öffnen ohne eine Hüllkurve (ADSR) oder LFO zu benutzen. Der Regler befindet sich im VCA-Bereich und ist mit "Amp." bezeichnet. Bei anderen Geräten wird diese Funktion auch als initial gain bezeichnet. Falls Ihr Dark Energy einen Dauerton erzeugt steht dieser Regler vermutlich nicht auf Null. Bitte lesen Sie Details hierzu in der Bedienungsanleitung auf Seite 16 nach. Falls Sie grundsätzliche Probleme mit den Funktionen der Regler und Schalter haben, bringen Sie Ihr Gerät in die auf Seite 6 der Anleitung beschriebene Grundstellung und folgend dann den Hinweisen in der Anleitung.
The glide option is available as a kit: It consists of rotary potentiometer with Dark Energy style knob and nut, 2-wire cable and 2-pin connector. All parts are assembled, no soldering required. Please contact the dealer in your country for price and delivery time.
To install the glide option the bottom cover of the Dark Energy has to be removed (four crosshead screws at the edges). The jumper installed on the pin header labelled JP4 of the interface/supply board (i.e. the board mounted to the rear panel) has to be removed. Instead of that the connector of the glide option is put on the pin header JP4. The orientation does not matter. JP4 is located behind the CV3 socket. A picture that shows the complete interface/supply board is available here: Dark_Energy_technical_information.pdf. Then the plastic cap at the front side has to be removed and the potentiometer is mounted into the hole by means of two nuts. Finally the knob is put on the potentiometer and the bottom cover is screwed tightly again.
Important: If the glide option is removed later the former jumper has to be installed to JP4 again ! Otherwise the CV connection between the interface and the VCO is interrupted and the pitch of the VCO is not controlled by the USB/Midi interface. If the VCO pitch does not respond to incoming USB/Midi data please double check if the jumper has been re-installed to JP4 !
Die Glide-Option ist als Bausatz erhältlich. Sie besteht aus einem Drehpotentiometer mit Dark Energy-Knopf und Mutter, dem zweipoligen Kabel und dem zweipoligen Steckverbinder. Alle Teile sind fertig verdrahtet, so dass zur Installation keine Lötarbeiten erforderlich sind. Bitte wenden Sie sich an Ihren Händler oder an uns direkt, falls Sie das Gerät von uns bezogen haben. Der Preis beträgt in Deutschland 10 Euro (zuzüglich Versandkosten sowie Mindermengenzuschlag, falls nur dieses Produkt bestellt wird). Wir empfehlen die Glide-Option gleich zusammen mit dem Gerät zu bestellen, um zusätzliche Kosten zu vermeiden.
Um die Glide-Option einzubauen, muss zunächst das Bodenblech des Dark Energy entfernt werden, das mit vier Kreuzschlitzschrauben an den Ecken des Bodens befestigt ist. Die Steckbrücke (Jumper), die auf die Stiftleiste JP4 der Interface/Stromversorgungsplatine aufgesteckt ist, wird abgezogen (die Interface/Stromversorgungsplatine ist die Platine, die an der Rückseite des Dark Energy montiert ist). JP4 befindet sich hinter der CV3-Buchse (eine Abbildung der Interface/Stromversorgungsplatine finden Sie hier: Dark_Energy_technische_Hinweise.pdf). Auf die frei gewordene Stiftleiste JP4 wird die 2-polige Steckverbindung der Glide-Option aufgesteckt. Die Polung ist dabei ohne Belang. Dann wird die Kunststoffkappe an der Vorderseite des Dark Energy entfernt und in das frei werdende Loch das Potentiometer der Glide-Option mit zwei Muttern montiert. Zum Schluss wird der Drehknopf aufgesteckt und das Bodenblech wieder festgeschraubt.
Wichtiger Hinweis: Falls die Glide-Option aus irgendeinem Grund später wieder entfernt wird, muss der frühere Jumper wieder auf JP2 aufgesteckt werden, da sonst die CV-Verbindung zwischen dem Midi/USB-Interface und dem VCO unterbrochen ist. Falls sich die Tonhöhe des VCOs über Midi oder USB nicht mehr steuern lässt, ist der fehlende Jumper auf JP4 mit großer Wahrscheinlichkeit die Ursache hierfür.

Wir weisen jedoch darauf hin, dass bei vom Kunden durchgeführten Modifikationen, die über das Umsetzen von Jumpern hinaus gehen, der Garantieanspruch verloren geht. Falls Sie die in dem erwähnten Dokument zur Verfügung gestellten Informationen nicht 100% verstehen, so wenden Sie sich bitte an einen Fachmann, der ggf. die gewünschten Änderungen oder Modifikationen durchführt. Eine weitergehende Beratung zu möglichen Modifikationen oder Änderungen können wir leider nicht kostenlos anbieten.
Additional technical notes concerning the function of the trimming potentiometers, pin headers, jumpers and so on are available in this document on our website: Dark_Energy_technical_information.pdf. We have to point out that modifications carried out by the customer cause the loss of warranty (exception: changing jumpers as described in the document without any damage of the case or screws at the bottom). If you do not understand the information given in the document please ask a specialist to carry out the modifications. Sorry - we can give no further free technical support beyond this document if you want to modify your Dark Energy yourself. This should be carried out by an expert only.
The Dark Energy requires an AC supply (not DC). The supply has to deliver an AC voltage in the range from 12 to 15V and at least 400mA. If by mistake a DC supply is used nothing can be damaged but in this case only the Midi/USB interface will work. The sound generation unit will not work in this case!
Der Dark Energy benötigt zum Betrieb ein Wechselspannungsnetzteil (Steckertrafo). Das Netzteil muss eine Wechselspannung (AC) im Bereich von 12 bis 15V und mindestens 400mA liefern. Beim versehentlichen Betrieb mit einem Gleichspannungsnetzteil kann nichts passieren, es funktioniert aber dann nur das MIDI/USB-Interface, nicht aber die Klangerzeuigungseinheit.
