For
mobile use also portable suitcase versions
of the A-100 cases are available. Inside the removable cover there is
sufficient space to carry the system
completely patched or to move patch chords and the power cable (valid only for
original A-100 patch cables, for cables from other manufacturers with
larger jack plugs there might be not sufficient space, actually about 50
mm space are available). The A-100 suitcases can be used vertical or horizontal, provided that a suitable support is used (not available from us, the mains inlet and the power switch have to remain accessible). The suitcases are equipped with 4 rubber feet on the bottom and rear side and a handle on the top. The A-100 suitcases are made of black wood with aluminium extrusions with the rail construction fixed to the other parts of the suitcase. Note: The A-100P6 is not simply an empty wooden case that covers the standard 6HU frame but a completely independent construction that is not based on the 6U standard frame A-100G6. It is not possible to convert a A-100G6 into the suitcase version A-100P6! The portable 6U suitcase A-100P6 has the same usable space available as the metal basic frame A-100G6, i.e. 2 x 84 HP. The two bus boards and the standard power supply are mounted at the rear panel. Consequently the rear panel cannot be removed. The upper picture shows an example that includes two Theremin modules A-178 and the Analog/Trigger Sequencer A-155 (among others). The lower picture shows an empty A-100 suitcase version 2 with built-in power supply A-100PSU2. The A-100 suitcases can be used to built in the A-100 Basic System 1 and 2. Please specify in your order if you want to have one of these systems built into a suitcase.Even the A-100 mini
system can be built into the A-100P6. In this case the
lower half of the suitcase has to be filled with blind panels or modules
that are not included in the mini system. Measures: Quantity of bus boards: 2 Weight (without modules): about 7 kg Maximum Output Current: stock article, usually available shortly The price for the A-100P6 can be found in the price list in the A-100 section. A-100 Suitcase Version 9U (A-100P9) |
|
This
an enlarged version of the A-100 suitcase with 9 U or three rows of
modules. As only one power supply is required this is the most economic
version of the A-100 suitcase. Apart from that the 9U version is
identical to the 6U version. Measures: Quantity of bus boards: 3 Weight (without modules): about 8,3 kg Maximum Output Current: stock article, usually available shortly The price for the A-100P9 can be found in the price list in the A-100 section. User's manual: A100_short_form_manual_2020.pdf |
A-100 Suitcase Base (A-100PB) |
|
This is the "small
brother" of the monster base A-100PMB.
It is very similar to the A-100PMB
ut has only half the width (2 x 84 HP for installation of modules). The
suitcase versions A-100P6 or A-100P9
can be positioned on top of the A-100PB
because the width of the A-100PB is a bit more than the width of A-100P6P9
and the footprint of the A-100PB is adapted to the depth of A-100P6/P9.
A-100PB is equipped with one power supply (1200mA) and two bus boards. The
bus boards are located in the rear area (even those for the modules that are
mounted in the front row). This was necessary to take advantage of the full
height of the front area for installation of A-100 modules. Measures: Quantity of bus boards: 2 Weight (without modules): about 9 kg Maximum Output Current: stock article, usually available shortly The price for the A-100PB can be found in the price list in the A-100 section. User's manual: A100_short_form_manual_2020.pdf |
|
A-100PBK is very
similar to the standard A-100 Base A-100PB.
In addition the A-100PBK is equipped with a 37 keys keyboard (Fatar 37TP/9
semi weighted with monophonic aftertouch) mounted into the lid of the case. The keyboard is wired to
a 2HP connection module via a 3.5mm stereo cable. The connection module is
mounted at a suitable position in the upper or lower row of the A-100PBK.
The connection module has a midi output available (3.5 mm stereo midi
standard) which outputs the midi data of the keyboard (midi channel 1,
lowest note number 36, note on/off and aftertouch). A polyphonic (A-190-5) or
monophonic CV/Gate interface (e.g. A-190-3, A-190-4)
can be connected to the midi output of the connection module. By means of
two jumpers one can choose between the two midi standards for 3.5 mm midi
connectors. A 3.5mm-to-DIN5 adapter cable is included with the A-100PBK.
Measures: Quantity of bus boards: 2 Weight (without modules): about ? kg Maximum Output Current: +12V/2000 mA, -12V/1200mA, +5V/4000mA Important notes:
stock article, usually available shortly The price for the A-100PB can be found in the price list in the A-100 section. User's manual: A100_short_form_manual_2020.pdf Addendum for A-100PBK: A100PBK_Manual_d_e.pdf |
A-100 Small Low Cost Case 3U / 48 HP (A-100LC1 / A-100LC1V) |
|
The A-100LC1 is very similar to the
A-100LC3
but offers only 48 HP for installation of
modules. A-100LC3 is equipped with the power supply
A-100SSB.
The case is made of raw wood without laquering. The case can be varnished by the customer in any desired color e.g. by means of a spray can. It is also available with black coating :A-100LC1V Measures in mm: Quantity of bus boards: 1
Note for versions 1.1 and 1.2: the load regulation of the power supply used in the A-100LC1 (A-100SSB) is not as good as the load regulation of the "big" A-100 power supplies (A-100PSU2, A-100PSU3 and the power supply of DIY kit #1). That's why we recommend not to use the A-100LC1 with modules which are sensitive to supply voltage changes. In the first place VCOs are affected. If modules with changing loads (especially modules with LEDs) are installed together with VCOs pitch modulations may be the result. The A-100LC1 should be used only with modules which are immune to slight supply voltage changes (typically control modules like ADSR, LFO, random and most of the sound processing modules like VCFs or VCAs). Note for version 2: version 2 is equipped with the same voltage regulation as the "big" A-100 power supplies. The limitations concerning the limited load regulation are no longer valid for version 2. Even modules which are sensitive to supply voltage changes (e.g. VCOs) can be powered by the A-100LC1 version 2. But the output currents are 340 mA only. Weight: about 1.5 kg (without modules, without mains cable) Electrical

A-100 Low Cost Case 3U / 84HP (A-100LC3 / A-100LC3V) |
|
This is the 3U version of the low cost cases
A-100LC6/LC9. The A-100LC3 is very similar to the
A-100LC6
but offers only one row with 84 HP for installation of
modules. A-100LC3 is equipped with one power supply (1200mA) and one bus
board.
Because of the limited space the power suppy of the DIY-Kit
#1 with an external transformer is used (same as for the DIY-Kit
#1: 15V AC/2500mA). At the left side of the case the connector for the external
transformer is located. The external transformer is not shown in the pictures.
A suitable transformer for the US market is manufactured by Triad
Magnetics and has the product name WAU16-2400 (16V AC / 2.4A). It is
available from several electronic shops like Mouser, Digikey, Newark,
Farnell and others. The case is made of raw wood without laquering. The case can be varnished by the customer in any desired color e.g. by means of a spray can. It is also available with black coating :A-100LC3V Measures: Quantity of bus boards: 1 Weight (without modules): about 2.5 kg without external transformer, about 3.5 kg with external transformer Electrical
specifications: IF you want to run the A-100LC3 with another supply please refer to A-100 DIY Kit #1. The DIY kit uses the same supply as the A-100LC3. technical data of the external power supply: 15V AC / 2500 mA output, low voltage connector 5.5/2.1 mm outer/inner diameter, the supply is included with the A-100LC3 stock article, usually available shortly The price for the A-100 low cost suitcases can be found in the price list in the A-100 section. A-100 Low Cost Case 6U / 84HP (A-100LC6 / A-100LC6V) |
|
This
is an economical version of the A-100 suitcase. It
is made very simple without front cover, without the metal rails and corners of
the suitcase version described above. In other respects the low cost
suitcase is identical to the suitcases described above (i.e. it includes
the A-100 PSU2/PSU3 and two bus boards).
The case is made of raw wood without laquering. The case can be
varnished by the customer in any desired color e.g. by means of a spray
can. Measures: Quantity of bus boards: 2 Weight (without modules): about 4 kg Maximum Output Current: In the area near the power supply (bottom right) no modules should be assembled that are sensitive against transformer hum. We recommend to assemble only control voltage modules in this area (e.g. LFO, ADSR, trigger delay, clock divider/sequencer, sequencer, slew limiter, MIDI interfaces and so on) but no audio modules (VCO, VCF, VCA, VCP, frequency shifter, ring modulator, spring reverb and so on). Even modules width increased depth (e.g. A-113 or A-126) cannot be assembled in the power supply area. They have to be placed in a position outside the power supply area (e.g. in the upper row). But this applies only for a few modules. Normally it is no problem to arrange all modules by mounting modules with smaller depth in the power supply area. stock article, usually available shortly The price for the A-100 low cost suitcases can be found in the price list in the A-100 section. |
This
an enlarged version of the A-100 low cost case with 9 U or three rows of
modules. As only one power supply is required this is the most economic
version of the A-100 low cost case. Apart from that the 9U version is
identical to the 6U version.
The case is made of raw wood without laquering. The case can be

A-100 Low Cost Base 2x3U / 84HP (A-100LCB / A-100LCBV) |
|
The A-100 Low
Cost Base has the same width as the A-100 Low Cost Cases (A-100LC6/LC9) and is planned as a base frame for the A-100
Low Cost Cases. But it can be used
also as a stand alone unit. One power supply (A-100PSU2/PSU3) and two bus boards are built in.
The A-100 Low Cost Base has two rows for modules available: one with horizontal alignment and another 45 degrees inclined row. The useable width is the same as for the Low Cost Cases, i.e. 84 HP. The bus boards are located in the rear area (even those for the modules that are mounted in the front row). This was necessary to take advantage of the full height of the front area for installation of A-100 modules. The max. depth for modules in the front row is ~70 mm.
The case is made of raw wood without laquering. The case can be
varnished by the customer in any desired color e.g. by means of a spray
can. Measures: Quantity of bus boards: 2 Weight: ~ 4.5 kg (without modules) Maximum Output Current: stock article, usually available shortly The price for the A-100LCB can be found in the price list in the A-100 section. User's manual: A100_short_form_manual_2020.pdf |
A-100 Monster Cases 6U, 9U and 12U / 168HP (A-100PMS6, A-100PMS9, A-100PMS12) |
|||||||||||||
As a special design the suitcase versions of the A-100 frames are available also as "monster" versions with double width (i.e. 168HP instead of 84HP). A-100PMS9 and A-100PMB are standard products and usually shortly available. A-100PMS6 and A-100PMS12 are custom made cases and the delivery time is about 4-6 weeks. | |||||||||||||

The monster cases
are available even with 6U and 9U. The
reason for these additional cases is that the 12U monster cases are a
bit difficult to handle by one person only. On top of this it is
necessary to have available smaller versions of the monster cases when
they are mounted together as shown in the pictures on the left side
(because of stability and appearance - with a 6U case as upper element the construction looks not that
"intimidating"). Single version of the 9U/168HP A-100 monster case with 9U/168HP (A-100PMS9): outside dimensions (with
