A-100 Standard Systems

There are no fixed rules for which and how many modules are required in an analog modular system. If you are a beginner, you might have problems in finding the right combination of modules for a basic system. Thus, we have arranged some system packages to start with, containing the modules in the tables below. The main difference between the basic systems 1 and 2 is the MIDI interface. System 1 is not equipped with a MIDI interface. If you want to control this system with MIDI you need an external MIDI-to-CV interface (e.g. MCV24 or MCV4). System 2 contains the MIDI interface A-190 instead of the two modules A-150 (Dual VCS) and A-162 (Dual Trigger Delay).

The modules are mounted into a 6U base frame and each system contains 30 patch cables (mixed length and color). The basic systems 1 and 2 are available also as portable suitcase versions. Because of the 8HP power input the suitcase versions contain one module less (system 1: no A-162 / system 2: no A-170).

Additionally we offer a minimal „Entry System“ built into a 3HU base frame with MIDI interface containing all modules for absolute basic applications of the A-100.

You will save some money compared to the regular prices when you purchase one of the basic systems (about 10%)! All systems include the complete A-100 user's manual. This includes all modules (not only the modules of the system in question).

The purpose and function of the other modules not included with the basic systems will become clear while you are working with the A-100 system, and you will realize the missing modules for your application very soon. If you want to expand the basic systems you need an empty frame (3U or 6U) and the desired additional modules and patch cords.

The special prices are valid for these combinations only (no exchange of modules).

For an exact run-down of the modules included, see below.

We offer these complete  A-100 systems:

The current prices can be found in the price list in the A-100 section. The basic Systems 1 and 2 are available as portable suitcase versions too. We have also available some additional examples for special A-100 systems: A-100 System Suggestions.

A-100 Basic System 1

A-100 Basic System 1

available as portable suitcase version too

The A-100 Basic System 1 is a reliable starting point for working with the A-100 but it contains no MIDI interface:

  • 2x Standard VCO A-110
  • 2x ADSR A-140
  • 2 x LFO A-145
  • 1x Ring Modulator A-114
  • 1 x Audio Divider A-115
  • 1 x VC Waveform Processor A-116
  • 1 x Noise/Random A-118
  • 1 x VCF1 A-120 (24dB low pass 1)
  • 1 x VCF2 A-121 (12dB multimode filter)
Remark: Module A-121 will be placed in the basic systems from January 2010 by the A-106-6 XP Filter. The production of the A-121 has to be stopped because of the no longer available special circuit CEM3320.
  • 1 x linear VCA A-130
  • 1 x logarithmic VCA A-131
  • 1 x linear Mixer A-138a
  • 1 x logarithmic Mixer A-138b
  • 1 x Dual S&H A-148
  • 1 x Dual VC Switch A-150
  • 1 x Trigger Divider A-160
  • 1 x Trigger Sequencer A-161
  • 1 x Dual Trigger Delay A-162
  • 1 x Dual Slew Limiter A-170
  • 1 x Multiple I A-180
  • 30 patch cables (mixed)

The valid price you will find in the price list in the A-100 section.
The modules of Basic System 1 are assembled in a 6HU frame with built in power supply and bus boards. The 6HU frame is also available without modules to configure an individual system or for expanding the basic systems with additional modules. The purpose and function of other modules will become more apparent as you work with your system, and you will be able to decide which extra modules you need for your particular purposes.

A-100 Basic System 2

A-100 Basic System 2

available as portable suitcase version too

The A-100 Basic System 2 is nearly identical with to the Basic System 1 but includes a MIDI-Interface. The modules A-150 (VC Switch) and A-162 (Trigger Delay) are replaced with with the MIDI interface A-190 and a 4HP blind plate.

The valid price you will find in the price list in the A-100 section.

It is also possible to integrate A-100 into a MIDI system using one of our separate MIDI interfaces such as an MCV4 or MCV24.

A-100 Mini-System

A-100 Mini System

The A-100 Mini System is an useful minimal configuration of the A-100 system. It contains 10 modules including a MIDI interface:

  • 2x Standard VCO A-110
  • 1x Ring Modulator A-114
  • 1x Noise/Random A-118
  • 1x VCF1 A-120 (24dB low pass 1)
  • 1 x logarithmic VCA A-131
  • 1 x logarithmi Mixer A-138b
  • 1 x ADSR A-140
  • 1 x LFO A-145
  • 1 x MIDI-to-CV/Gate/Sync Interface A-190
  • 15 patch cables (mixed)

The valid price you will find in the price list in the A-100 section.

The modules are assembled in a 3HU frame with built in power supply and bus board. The small 3HU frame is also available without modules to configure an individual small system or for expanding the basic systems with additional modules. The Mini System is not available as portable suitcase version !

As the A-100G3 is no longer available the A-100 Mini System is no longer available in the 3U frame A-100G3. But it can be assembled into a 6U or 9U frame (e.g. A-100G6, A-100P6, A-100LC6, A-100P9, A-100LC9).

The Mini System is available only built into a 6HU (A-100G6, A-100P6, A-100LC6) or 9U frame (A-100P9, A-100LC9) so that the additional 3HU or 6HU are available to assemble other A-100 modules or blind panels. In this version the Mini System is available as portable suitcase version too. The additional price is calculated from the price difference between A-100G3 and A-100G6 (for the standard frame) or the difference between A-100G3 and A-100P6, A-100LC6, A-100P9 or A-100LC9 for the portable and low cost versions of the A-100 frames. And one has to add the price for the additionally required blind panels (2 x 42HP per row). These are necessary to close the case because of electrical safety reasons ! The valid prices can be found in the price list in the A-100 section.
